About the team & this role

Sateliot brings standard cellular connectivity from space, and develops key parts of its radio access technology in-house, test tooling included. Non-terrestrial networks are one of the most active areas in telecoms right now, and this is a chance to work on the radio itself rather than on top of it. As Junior RAN Software Engineer you will work on our 5G NR non-terrestrial test terminal side by side with a senior engineer who reviews what you write, and you will own the test and validation pipeline around it. The role is deliberately designed as an entry path into radio access software: we are looking for someone early in their career who is fast with AI-assisted development and rigorous about understanding what they ship.

What you'll do

• Build and extend our own 5G NR NTN test terminal software, paired with our 5G stack architect as your reviewer.

• Own its test and validation pipeline: automation, continuous integration, regression runs and the analysis of what the results mean.

• Drive integration step by step — terrestrial first, then satellite GEO and LEO over a software channel emulator, then over RF with a physical emulator.

• Work AI-first: orchestrate AI-assisted development, and be able to explain and defend every line that ships.

• Grow into the domain: this position is the path to becoming a radio access software engineer, with the mentoring to get there.

What you bring

• A degree in telecommunications, electronics or computer engineering, with solid C or C++ and Python for tooling.

• Foundations in mobile radio protocols — LTE or 5G — and genuine willingness to work from the 3GPP specifications.

• Something real you have built and can walk us through — a thesis, a personal project, an internship — explaining the design decisions you took and why.

• Lab curiosity: comfortable around hardware, logs and software-defined radios, and happy to get your hands dirty.

• Practical AI skills paired with the creative problem-solving to put them to work.

Bonus if you have

• Academic or personal projects with open-source radio access software such as srsRAN or OpenAirInterface.

• Linux and embedded development, or software-defined radio projects.

• Interest in satellite communications and non-terrestrial networks.

• Version control and CI practice beyond the classroom.

Additional requirements

• This role is lab-based and hands-on with hardware, so it is on-site: you will sit with the engineers you work with, at one of our engineering locations.

• Our process includes a short practical exercise: you will solve a small problem using AI assistance and then walk us through the result and defend your choices.
