Flight Software Engineer
Sateliot is a Barcelona-based satellite company with one goal: connect everything, everywhere. Founded in 2018, we've built the first satellite constellation that lets standard commercial devices communicate directly from space. Our technology bridges the gaps that terrestrial networks will never reach, bringing affordable and secure connectivity to industries, governments, and communities across the planet.

About the team & this role
The Mission and Systems Engineering team is responsible for the development, integration and validation of the satellite’s core avionics and on-board software, ensuring reliable operation across all spacecraft subsystems.
As Flight Software Engineer, you’ll own the On-Board Software (OBSW) for Sateliot’s satellites — from today’s baseline to the next generation — developing, verifying and validating it, and supporting the platform through integration campaigns and in orbit, working closely with the Systems, Hardware, AIT and Operations teams.
What you'll do
Own the development of the on-board flight software for the platform, through to a flight-ready release.
Own its verification and validation: define and run the unit, integration and system-level test campaigns that produce the acceptance evidence for each release.
Deliver software that is robust and reliable in the space environment.
Own the integration of the on-board software with the satellite subsystems, interfaces and overall system architecture, working closely with the Hardware, Systems and AIT teams.
Resolve issues across software, hardware, interfaces and communication protocols, from the bench and AIT campaigns through to in-orbit operations.
What you bring
5+ years developing embedded software in C or C++ for resource-constrained targets.
Hands-on development on real-time operating system (FreeRTOS, RTEMS, VxWorks or equivalent).
Hands-on development on data interfaces used in satellite systems (SpaceWire, CAN Bus, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553).
Demonstrated ownership of embedded software verification: authored unit and integration test suites and executed them on target hardware.
Bonus if you have
Python or other modern scripting languages, applied to test automation and tooling.
Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards.
Experience developing software for aerospace or safety-critical systems.
Experience with CI/CD for embedded systems.
Experience with Linux, Git and modern software development workflows.
Experience running FlatSat and hardware-in-the-loop test campaigns.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment, or willingness to.
Previous involvement in satellite AIT/AIV, commissioning, or in-orbit operations.
Additional requirements
Based in Barcelona or willing to relocate: this is a hybrid role with regular on-site presence at our Barcelona HQ, where the hardware benches and FlatSat are.
Availability for occasional travel to external test campaigns, and for extended hours around launch and in-orbit commissioning windows.
