Operations & Flight Dynamics Engineer
WHO ARE WE?
Sateliot is a Barcelona-based Startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all the elements that will make up the massive Internet of Things (IoT) universe under the 5G protocol.
In order to do so, Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites, located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing them with the necessary infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.
YOUR MISSION
Sateliot is seeking a proactive and highly motivated Satellite Operations & Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our mission control team. This position offers a unique opportunity to operate at the intersection of real-time satellite control and advanced orbital analysis. The successful candidate will initiate their tenure at the core of our daily satellite operations while concurrently embarking on a dedicated professional development path toward subject matter expertise in Flight Dynamics.
We are looking for a "bridge" profile—an individual capable of maintaining the real-time health and safety of our constellation while simultaneously leading orbit determination and maneuver planning initiatives. In this pioneering capacity, the engineer will be expected to move beyond the execution of established protocols to actively cultivate a comprehensive knowledge base and refine the foundational standards for flight dynamics operations within the organization.
YOUR MAIN FUNCTIONS
Mission Operations & Real-time Control: Monitor and operate the satellite constellation to ensure optimal performance and adherence to mission objectives. This includes analyzing telemetry, managing command execution, and coordinating with manufacturers for the resolution of spacecraft or payload anomalies.
Orbital Strategy & Implementation: Develop and implement a comprehensive orbital keeping and phasing strategy. This involves conducting routine orbit determination, precise maneuver planning, and the detailed analysis of orbital events, such as conjunctions and proximity operations.
Knowledge Development & Standardization: Actively document operational procedures and best practices to enhance the "Sateliot Playbook," ensuring the continuous improvement of flight dynamics workflows and operational excellence.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background: A university degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
Operational Mindset: Demonstrable understanding of satellite operations.
Analytical Rigor: A robust theoretical foundation in orbital mechanics and a strong interest in mission analysis.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with flight dynamics software suites, such as GMV FocusSuite or equivalent industry tools (e.g., STK, GMAT, FreeFlyer).
Self-Directed Learning: A proven ability to achieve proficiency in complex technical software and persist through challenges in environments with evolving documentation.
Adaptability: The capacity to maintain composure during high-pressure real-time operations while dedicating the focus required for deep analytical flight dynamics tasks.
Communication: Full professional proficiency in English and the ability to coordinate effectively with international technical partners and service providers.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience with LEO constellations and the specific operational challenges associated with small satellite platforms.
Practical exposure to conjunction assessment (collision avoidance) and the implementation of mitigation strategies.
A track record of developing technical documentation or setting procedural paths within an engineering team.
