Senior Electrical Engineer for Embedded Systems
WHO ARE WE?
Sateliot is a Barcelona-based Startup in the New Space sector, becoming the first satellite telecommunications operator that will provide global and continuous connectivity to all the elements that will make up the massive Internet of Things (IoT) universe under the 5G protocol.
In order to do so, Sateliot is launching a constellation of last generation nanosatellites, located at low altitude that act as mobile towers. Sateliot is the perfect complement for large telecommunications companies by providing them with the necessary infrastructure where terrestrial technologies do not arrive.
YOUR MISSION
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in embedded communications systems, digital design, and multi-interface system integration. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of proven, hands-on experience architecting, designing, and delivering complex electronic systems involving microcontrollers, FPGAs, and high-speed communication protocols.
This individual should have deep knowledge of modern communication standards, be able to design system-level architectures, identify and select appropriate components, produce schematics and PCB layouts, and drive solutions with a proactive “can-do” engineering mindset.
YOUR MAIN FUNCTIONS
Architect end-to-end electronic systems involving microcontrollers, FPGAs, sensors, power systems, and communication interfaces.
Translate functional requirements into robust hardware architectures and component-level design.
Develop block diagrams, interface definitions, power trees, signal integrity requirements, and design documentation.
Drive component selection for analog, digital, RF, power, and mixed-signal subsystems.
Create detailed schematics for complex multi-layer boards.
Perform PCB layout or work closely with layout engineers to ensure signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
Develop prototypes and work with manufacturing partners for board bring-up, testing, and validation.
The candidate must have strong, practical experience with a broad set of embedded communication protocols, including:
Serial & Automotive/Industrial Buses
CAN / CAN-FD
I²C
SPI
UART / RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485
LIN
Ethernet (10/100/1G), TCP/IP stack fundamentals
Modbus, Profibus (preferred)
High-Speed Digital & FPGA Interfaces
USB (2.0/3.x)
PCIe
JESD204B/C
JTAG
MIPI (CSI, DSI)
LVDS
DDR memory interfaces
Other Relevant Interfaces
BLE / Wi-Fi module integration
GPS / GNSS module interfaces
Power-related communication (SMBus, PMBus)
FPGA & Microcontroller Integration
Experience integrating FPGAs (Xilinx, Intel/Altera, Lattice, Microchip, etc.) with MCUs and peripherals.
Ability to understand and define HDL-based subsystem needs (VHDL/Verilog) and collaborate with firmware/RTL teams.
Design systems involving embedded processors inside FPGAs (e.g., Zynq, Nios).
Testing, Validation & Debug
Conduct board bring-up and debug using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG tools.
Validate communication links, high-speed interfaces, and power subsystems.
Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions during prototype and production phases.
REQUIREMENTS
10+ years of experience in electronics engineering, embedded hardware design, or related fields.
Proven track record of independently delivering complex electronic systems from concept to production.
Strong understanding of digital design, signal integrity, timing, power distribution, and EMC/EMI principles.
Proficiency with schematic capture tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, KiCad, etc.).
Experience with multi-layer PCB design and best-practice layout requirements.
Ability to work cross-functionally with firmware, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
Demonstrated “can-do” problem-solving approach and a results-driven mindset.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience designing for harsh industrial or automotive environments.
Experience with safety-critical or high-reliability systems (ISO, IEC, DO-254, etc.).
Familiarity with high-speed design constraints (impedance control, length matching, eye diagrams).
Exposure to RF modules, antenna design principles, or mixed-signal hardware.
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
